ARIN 58: IPv4 Policy and the Market Ahead
As the IPv4 marketplace continues to evolve, ARIN’s policy discussions play an important role in shaping how organizations acquire, transfer, and manage internet number resources.
This year’s meeting focuses on IPv4 and IPv6 resource management, out-of-region use, registry governance, and proposed changes to ARIN’s Number Resource Policy Manual (NRPM).
Several proposals are particularly relevant to organizations managing IPv4 address space, including changes to out-of-region resource use, clarification of ISP and Local Internet Registry definitions, and discussions surrounding ARIN’s IPv4 waitlist.
These policies can influence how organizations plan acquisitions, manage existing resources, and navigate the IPv4 transfer market.
For Brander Group and our clients, ARIN 58 provides an opportunity to follow these developments, participate in industry conversations, and better understand the policy landscape heading into 2027.
What to Expect at ARIN 58
The October 22 meeting brings together ARIN leadership, network operators, resource holders, and policymakers for discussions covering:
- IPv4 and IPv6 Resource Policy: Proposed changes to resource allocation, registration, and eligibility requirements.
- Out-of-Region Resource Use: Discussions about how IP addresses may be used outside ARIN’s service region.
- IPv4 Waitlist: Community conversations about the future of IPv4 resource availability and waitlist policies.
- Registry Governance: Updates on ARIN operations, data accuracy, and Regional Internet Registry governance.
- 2026 ARIN Elections: Opportunities to hear about the leadership and policy representatives helping shape ARIN’s future.

Brander Group at NANOG 98 and ARIN 58
Before ARIN 58, Brander Group will also attend NANOG 98, October 18–21, in Miami, where we’re proud to sponsor Lunch on Monday and the Espresso Bar on Tuesday and Wednesday.
NANOG brings together the technical community responsible for building and operating the internet, while ARIN focuses on the policies governing the number resources that support it.
Together, the two conferences provide an opportunity to explore both the technical and economic forces shaping the IPv4 marketplace.
